Living in Viejo San Juan, Puerto Rico from 2012 to 2017, I found my photography following three major themes:

  • bomba and plena dancing in the Callejon de Tanca;

  • diving at Crash Boat, off the old railroad bridge near Laguna del Condado, or in La Perla; or

  • the annual Gay Pride parade in San Juan.

As we prepared to leave from Puerto Rico, we did an informal show in our home to celebrate our time there and share the photos with our friends and neighbors. This gallery approximates the order those images were hung on our tall white walls.

One neighbor commented “You really captured our people. You understand Puerto Rico!”
